Instructions
- Prepare the strawberries by mixing sliced strawberries with granulated sugar in a bowl. Let sit for 30 minutes to create syrup.
- Preheat your oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Stir in heavy cream until just combined.
- Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them apart. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Once cooled slightly, slice each shortcake in half horizontally, layer with strawberries and whipped cream if desired, and serve immediately.
