  • 2 slabs beef ribs
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 7 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 3 tablespoons mustard powder
  • 3 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 3 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon coarse kosher salt
  • 3 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the beef ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub olive oil over the ribs and coat generously with the dry rub.
  4. In another bowl, mix ketchup, apple juice, apple cider vinegar, and cayenne pepper for the BBQ sauce.
  5. Place the ribs in a slow cooker bone side down and pour half of the BBQ sauce over them.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender.
  7. Baste with remaining BBQ sauce during the last hour of cooking.
