Ingredients
- 8 slices thick bread
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter for cooking
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of sugar until smooth. Fold in half of the sliced strawberries.
- Cut pockets into each slice of bread without cutting all the way through. Stuff each pocket with the cream cheese mixture.
- Whisk together eggs, milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter. Dip each stuffed slice into the egg mixture and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Serve immediately with powdered sugar, remaining strawberries, and maple syrup.
